Vault Hunters Wanted: Borderlands 4 Arrives Ahead of Schedule
Borderlands 4 Set to Launch Ahead of Schedule on September 12, 2025
Gearbox Software and 2K Games have announced Borderlands 4 will come out on September 12, 2025. This is earlier than the September 23 date they had planned.
A New Frontier: Planet Kairos
Borderlands 4 takes players to Kairos, a planet unlike Pandora. The story starts after Borderlands 3, with Pandora’s moon, Elpis, destroyed. This opens Kairos to threats. Players will fight against the Timekeeper and his synthetic army, the Order.

Enhanced Exploration and Gameplay Mechanics
Kairos is the biggest world in the series, with no loading screens. Players can move around using a grappling hook and teleportation. This lets them reach any spot they see.
The game has a new HUD, a compass instead of a minimap. This helps with navigating the vertical world. A robot named Echo-4 also helps players.
New Characters and Cooperative Play
The game introduces four new Vault Hunters, including Vex and Rafa. Characters like Moxxi and Claptrap (who has appeared in every mainline Borderlands game and several spin-offs) return too. Borderlands 4 offers single-player and co-op play, with four-player online and two-player split-screen. Players on different systems can play together.
With its earlier release date and a host of new features, Borderlands 4 is poised to deliver an immersive and expansive experience for both longtime fans and newcomers to the series.

orderlands 4 was made with Unreal Engine 5. It will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. You can play it on Steam and the Epic Games Store. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is coming later in 2025.
